Welcome to 7N Architects’ quarterly newsletter.
We hope that this will give you a window into some of the exciting things that have been keeping us busy and inspired.
This edition: major anniversary for 7N Architects, planning consents, awards, and exhibitions.
Celebrating 15 years of 7N Architects and new roles within the practice
April saw a significant milestone for 7N as we celebrated 15 years of practice and announced our transition to an Employee Owned Business.
After many years of steady growth and establishing ourselves as one of Scotland’s leading independent architectural practices, these milestones presented an opportunity to reflect on our history and look towards our future.
Ewan shared his thoughts on the transition, “Pausing for a moment to look back, it’s a good feeling to reflect on what the practice has achieved over these past 15 years and it’s an exciting time for everyone at 7N. Our Randolph Place studio in Edinburgh’s West End has never been busier.”
To help secure our long-term future, our leadership team has been expanded with Ben Watson and Craig Tait joining Ewan Anderson on the Board as Directors. This team, along with associate directors Niamh O’Reilly and Chris Raeburn, will work in conjunction with a Board of Trustees that includes an independent Chair, John Hume, and 7N team members Laura Adamson and Lisa Blyth, both of whom were elected by their fellow employees.
We hosted a wonderful party in mid-April to celebrate the anniversary and to thank all who have helped us along the way. It has been a great journey so far and we look forward to the everything that is to come in the next 15 years.

Planning for Ferry Road, Inverlair Ave & Haymarket
We are pleased to share news of recent planning approvals across Edinburgh and Glasgow.
March saw consents for two significant residential projects: Inverlair Avenue and Ferry Road, the latter after an infamous committee coin toss decision was overturned. These schemes offer a combined 510 new homes on key brownfield sites in both cities and will provide transformative change to their neighbourhoods.
Our benchmark ESG development, Haymarket Yards, was bolstered in April by the approval of a further workspace project. The newly consented east building delivers an additional 6,285 sqm (GIA) of workspace at this key public transport hub, reinforcing the development’s significance in the rapidly growing part of the city centre.

7N publications
To celebrate our 15th year of practice, we will be publishing a series of booklets to look back on different aspects of our work.
April saw the publication of our 15-year retrospective and we printed a Workspace booklet in May. Later in the year will see further booklets on our residential and masterplanning work. Please get in touch if you would like to receive copies!
